Introducing The Edge Card

With Gamestop as one of the biggest retailers of video games in the USA, it's no surprise people want a membership card so they can get rewarded for spending so much money there. Sadly, we have a while till we get a rewards card, but it is on it's way. I'll write another hub on the future Rewards Card, so stay tuned. But we're here to talk about the Edge Card, which is a step-down from a Rewards Card, but it's still better than nothing. While it can't get you free Rewards, it can net you some cool discounts, and maybe even earn you a little extra store credit.

What The Edge Card Can Do For You!

To get the Edge Card, you need to go to a Gamestop nearby, because they don't sell Edge Cards on Gamestop's website or anywhere else online. Once there, just ask the cashier to sign up for it, give them the $15 dollars, tell them your name (so they can access your card if you lose it), and voila! You've got yourself a shiny new Edge Card.

Once you buy the Edge Card, you'll get a nice little package of discounts and bonuses. Here's a full list of what you'll receive:

  • 10% off used games
  • 10% off used accessories
  • 10% off strategies guides (only if you buy with the corresponding game)
  • 10% extra store credit when you trade in a game
  • A one year subscription to Game Informer, a popular gaming magazine

You'll get all of this stuff, just for $14.99, but you have to renew the card each year. But wait, there's more. If there's a Gamestop promotion, it will stack with your Edge Card bonuses. For example, if there's a Gamestop promotion where you get an extra 30% store credit for every game you turn in, you'd get the 30% plus the 10% from your Edge Card, making a total of 40%. It's not gonna make you rich, but in this economy, it pays to be thrifty (pun intended).

Warning: If you trade in a game with the Edge Card, yes, you will get the extra 10%, BUT you must have the Edge Card to use that store credit. So, if you lose the Edge Card, you lose the store credit. This only applies to store credit, you do not need the Edge Card on hand to get your discounts, you just give them your name.
